7 launches of Dhaka-Barisal in the storm, passengers safely

With the arrival of thousands of passengers on Thursday night, the launches of Barisal-bound launches from Dhaka came under severe storm.


This incident occurs in the Meghna estuarine at Chandpur in midnight. While the panic spread among the passengers, it is finally safe to reach all the destination.

According to the sources, the passengers and launch authorities said that seven launches, including Sunderbans-10, Kirtankhola-2, Survi-8, Farhan and Parabat-10, which were left from Dhaka on Thursday evening, were caught in the storm.

In the same way, six launches left from Barisal also caused storm. But finally, all the launches reached safely in the destination, said BIWTA authorities.

Kirtankhola-2 launch passenger Akteruzzaman Sabuj said that all the launches, including Kirtankhola Launch, were forced to anchor in safe places when forced into the Meghna river due to heavy storm.

The Sundarbans-10 launcher clerk left from Dhaka Rafiqul Islam said that their launch was in front of Chandpur before 12pm. At that time there were many snowflakes in the river. However, they did not launch the anchor at Barisal after the storm was not permanent.

BIWTA Barisal's Naval Security and Traffic Management Division Deputy Director Ajmal Huda Mithu Sarkar said there were waves and high winds in Chandpur's Mohan at night.

Many people thought it was a storm. Because of this, many passengers call the BIWTA chairman too. But all the launches have safely reached the destination with the passengers.
